MeriWish is a quiet place to send a wish, a hope, or a name into a shared sky. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and how we treat it.
01 Who this applies to
This Privacy Policy covers the MeriWish website at meriwish.com and the MeriWish mobile app (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the handling of information described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use MeriWish.
02 The wishes you share are public
This is the most important thing to understand: when you release a message — a wish, affirmation, gratitude, dream, or chant — it is displayed publicly in the shared field for anyone to see. Messages are meant to drift among everyone else’s.
03 Information we collect
Content you submit. The text of each message you release and the category you choose (Wish, Affirmation, Gratitude, Dream, or Chant). We may store this so it can be displayed and counted.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites and apps, we and our service providers may collect basic technical data such as your device and browser type, general location (derived from your IP address), pages or screens viewed, and how you interact with the Service. This helps us keep MeriWish running and improve it.
Cookies and similar technologies. We may use cookies or local storage to remember preferences and to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings.
MeriWish does not require you to create an account or provide your name or email to send a wish.
04 How we use information
- To display the messages you and others release, and to show the running count.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, spam, or harmful content.
- To understand general usage through analytics.
- To comply with the law or respond to valid legal requests.
05 Analytics and third-party services
We may use third-party tools (for example, privacy-respecting analytics, hosting, and content-delivery providers) to run and measure the Service. On mobile, the app may rely on services provided by the app store and operating system. These providers process data on our behalf and under their own privacy terms.
06 How we share information
We do not sell your information. We share information only:
- Publicly — the message content you choose to release, as described above.
- With service providers who help us operate the Service, bound to protect it.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.
- In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), with notice where required.
07 Data retention
Released messages may remain visible in the field and stored by us for as long as the Service operates, unless removed. Technical and analytics data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. If you’d like a message you released removed, contact us using the details below and we’ll make reasonable efforts to do so.
08 Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because MeriWish is designed to be anonymous, we may be unable to identify which messages are yours unless you can identify them for us. To make a request, contact us at meriwishapp@gmail.com.
09 Children’s privacy
MeriWish is not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Please don’t submit a child’s personal information in a message. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we’ll take appropriate steps to remove it.
10 Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Remember that anything you release publicly is, by design, visible to others.
11 International users
MeriWish may be operated from, and information processed in, countries other than your own. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, which may have different data-protection laws.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be made clear within the Service. Continuing to use MeriWish after an update means you accept the revised policy.
